Residents at Puhinui enjoy a range of work and community activities. Whether you want to participate in paid employment, prefer a workshop environment or community and day services, staff will help you to achieve this. Puhinui is situated close to public transport if you wish to be independent or you may choose to be taken to and from activities in one of the Trusts vehicles. We are within walking distance of shops, banks, medical centres and the Library. Manukau City Centre is just up the road.

At Puhinui, you will be assisted to develop your skills in cooking and household chores.

We are able to cater to special dietary requirements and if you have a favourite food we will be pleased to ensure that it is regularly featured on the menu.

Independence and goals for independence look a little different for every person. Even with independence, connections to family and whaanau are really important!

We are very involved with Special Olympics,  Our residents enjoy swimming, ten pin bowling, indoor bowling and basketball.  Petrol heads among us enjoy going to Stock Cars on a regular basis and those of us who are light on our feet are regulars at Line dancing!! If you have a special interest or hobby we will be happy to accommodate this and support you to continue to pursue it.

Birthdays and celebrations are celebrated in style! Our residents have celebrated many milestone birthdays and we have done our best to ensure that these have been a huge success! A recent commitment ceremony was attended by families, staff, board members as well as friends of the couple. It was a day to be remembered by residents as well as staff.

The residents at Puhinui are a happy family and as such are delighted to share in each others celebrations. Christmas parties are held for families each year, and those who are not going off to spend Christmas Day with relatives will enjoy all the trimmings of traditional Christmas at Puhinui. Whether you prefer to spend your special occasions quietly with family or celebrating in style, we will ensure that it is special!!
